Almonds are close relatives of peaches and nectarines so will do well in areas with warm dry summers and little likelihood of heavy spring frosts (due to the very early flowering time). APPLE Granny Smith
Granny Smith produces a large green fruit with a tart, well balanced flavour and crisp, juicy white flesh. A red blush appears on the skin when grown in colder areas. It crops late in the season and has a long picking period. Fruit has excellent keeping qualities. Tree is self fertile and a regular bearer that is suited to most climates. Tip bearing.  Granny Smith is an excellent pollinator for other apple varieties.

Blackberries
Blackberries can be successfully grown through most parts of New Zealand. They are excellent for fresh eating, pies, freezing, jams, desserts and wine. Benefits of Blackberries include high in vitamin C, antioxidant, plus they reduce inflammation, and ripen just after summer raspberries when few other fruit are available in the garden. Black berries flower late so normally miss late spring frosts. Black berries grow on new canes once plant has reach two years old. Plant should be tipped at a metre to encourage branching, but kept shaped as an open vase for air flow. Remember to remove wood, older than two years old. Leave 2m between plants.

APPLE Sturmer Pippin
Sturmer Pippin has blushed, green/bronze skin with an acidic, aromatic, sweet and juicy flesh that is very firm. This variety makes excellent cider and is great cooked. The fruit is very high in Vitamin C. It is a compact tree with low vigour meaning it needs little pruning. Bears on spurs very late in the season.

Belle de Boskoop is a large, orange-red, russeted heritage apple. It is very popular in Europe as a cooking and fresh eating apple. Apple is firm and crisp, with a full, tart flavour. It is very aromatic and gets sweeter in storage. Stores for 3-4 months or more. Forms an open, wide-spreading and weeping tree. Spur bearing, crops mid to late season. Triploid variety.
