Waimea Nurseries has been supplying trees to pipfruit growers since it was established in 1971. We are committed to the long term future of New Zealand’s pipfruit industry. Our team of skilled staff ensure trees are nurtured and produced using the most up-to-date international best practice. We are at the forefront of high-density planting systems in New Zealand with the introduction of key dwarfing rootstocks. In addition, we are contributing new varieties through our subsidiary Waimea Variety Management, which introduces 20 to 30 new selections of pipfruit annually from some of the world’s breeding programmes. Once in our development system, varieties are tested for viruses and planted to ensure stability, trueness to type and market suitability. Through INN (International New-Varieties Network), Waimea Nurseries has established relationships with breeders and agencies across the globe, enabling us to offer the best possible varieties and rootstocks.
